opened Doc Burnstein’s Ice Cream Lab in
August 2003, in the location that Burnardo’z
Candy Kitchen & Ice
Cream Parlour had occupied since the mid 1980’s.
Greg teamed up with Chuck Burns (who created the original
Burnardo'z) and brought back all the quality and flavors
that Burnardo'z made famous, plus a host
of new and exciting flavors. |

Chuck Burns is a master
ice cream maker, having created an instant local hit
on July 3rd, 1976 when he first opened Burnardo'z
Ice Cream Plant on the southeast corner of
Branch & Bridge Street in the Historic Village of
Arroyo Grande. The original Burnardo'z featured
ice creams made right on the premises.
Word spread rapidly of the fabulous
ice cream served in the modest corner shop. A great
deal of their success was attributed to Burns’ “secret
recipes” as well as his firm commitment to use
only the very best ingredients. Burns participated
in daily operations until 1986, by which time his creamy
creations had become world famous.
Now Greg Steinberger carries on the tradition of
hand-crafting super-premium ice creams in a nostalgic
turn-of-the-century parlour setting. From traditional
favorites like Mint Chip and Mexican
Chocolate to the
new unique outrageous flavores like Elvis'
Special you are sure to enjoy the many treats that await you
at Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab! |
